Colorado Springs, Colorado

It was a full day of quality international Greco-Roman wrestling at the Kiki Cup, a dual meet tournament featuring eight teams.

Four U.S. squads competed against four international teams, with each team getting four dual meets. None of the American teams faced each other, having all four bouts against foreign squads. When it all ended, the only team without a loss was USA-III, which was comprised mostly of athletes from the Sunkist Kids and the Minnesota Storm.

Unbeaten with 4-0 records on Team USA-III were Joe Betterman (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC) at 60 kg/132 lbs., C.P. Schlatter (Minneapolis, Minn./Minnesota Storm) at 66 kg/145.5 lbs., Andy Bisek (Colorado Springs, Colo./Minnesota Storm) at 74 kg/163 lbs. and R.C. Johnson (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sunkist Kids) at 96 kg/211.5 lbs. Team USA-III opened with a 13-9 win over Poland, then defeated Bulgaria 17-10.

In the third round, they stopped Japan, 18-5. The final match was against Scandinavia and ended in a 12-12 tie. However, Team USA won the tiebreaker with four wins with three wins for Scandinavia.

"USA-III went undefeated. I'm happy for them. They had a chance to truly test their skills," said Fraser. "Joe Betterman beat some very tough wrestlers. C.P. Schlatter is unbelievable. He's for real and he just got started back in Greco. Andy Bisek did a great job, and wrestled smart all day. R.C. Johnson also beat some very tough people."

Overall, six Americans went with 4-0 unbeaten records during the tournament.

Also going 4-0 for Team USA-II were Jake Fisher (Boise, Idaho/New York AC) at 74 kg/163 lbs. and Justin Ruiz (Boise, Idaho/New York AC) at 96 kg/211.5 lbs. Fisher was a member of the 2010 U.S. World Team. Ruiz, a 2005 World bronze medalist, was also fifth in the 2010 World Championships.

2002 World champion Dremiel Byers (Colorado Springs, Colo./U.S. Army) went 3-0 at 286 lbs. Two-time World bronze medalist Harry Lester (Colorado Springs, Colo./U.S. Army) made his return with a 2-0 record.
